Your age? 50

Your occupation?
Research Scientist

Your home table tennis club?
Nanaimo

When and how did you first start playing table tennis?
I started to play table tennis when I was a kid, as many, many Chinese children do at that time. Most of the times I was playing on a piece of board which was usually smaller than a "real" table tennis table, as there were few such good tables relative to the large number of kids playing.

How often do you play table tennis?
2-5 times a week, each time for about 1 or 3 hours.

What do you like most about playing table tennis?
I like it the most, when I execute a loop to win a point.

2010/09/03  Game strategies. Just in time for the upcoming tournaments here's some great advice from a top level player, U.S. National Men's Team member Samson Dubina, who has posted a link to a number of suggested game strategies against nine different types of opponents. Samson cuts through the usual amount of waffle that many strategy guides have, and distills his advice down to the essentials - what your opponent wants to do, what you need to do, and a checklist of six key points to remember against each style. Tried and tested tactics from a U.S. Team member - all for free! To view click here.

2010/07/05 Want to become your club expert on the rules of table tennis? Officiate at tournaments? Now's your chance. Karol Ziduliak (BCTTA Officials Committee Chairman, International Umpire & Referee) will conduct a seminar on Vancouver Island offering 'Club Umpire' certification. The seminar lasts 2-3 hours followed by a multiple choice, open book exam which would take about an hour to complete. (For details of required reading and study material click here.)
For those interested you can progress, in the future, to the 'Provincial Umpire' and 'National Umpire' levels.
The seminar will be conducted on a weekend day, probably in August. The location will be decided when we know where the majority of participants are from. We anticipate a total cost of approx. $25.00 for members of the BCTTA - $30.00 for non-members.
If you are interested in participating please email us including a note of where you live.
