2009 Vancouver
Island Closed Tournament
"Thank you so much for the prompt results, to a great
tournament, which I think everyone enjoyed. It was good to meet
other players from the island, as we get a bit stale playing the
same people at our respective clubs. Thanks for a job well
done". Ken Osborne
"Thank you for having such a wonderful idea and starting
the V.I. Table Tennis web site - I really enjoyed watching all
the great table tennis in Nanaimo on Sunday". Brenda

Just a couple of comments we received about the 2009
Vancouver Island Closed Tournament held in Nanaimo on Sunday
October 18th. Images from the tournament are now available -

(When the link opens just click on "Slideshow").
We wish to thank Claudia McLean and Paul Paquette
for providing these pictures. Paul, who supplied the majority of
the images, deserves special thanks. He turned up on Sunday to
watch some table tennis and ended up getting roped in to
becoming the official photographer. He then quickly processed
and dispatched
the images to us so we could get them posted for all to see.
Thanks Paul.

Table
Tennis: Good for Body and Brain
“Table tennis is the world’s best brain sport.” —
Daniel G. Amen, M.D., in Making a Good Brain Great.
As with many other sports, table tennis started as a pastime.
Table tennis was first played in the 1880's by Victorian
Englishmen who tried to mimic the game of lawn tennis on a table
in an indoor environment. They may not have known it was good
for the brain, as Amen mentions, but they reaped the benefits
anyway........ To read the rest of the article from the
